Artenum have developed a Java plug-in for image processing software for the Paris-Meudon Observatory. ImageJ specializes in improving contrast for 8 bit grayscale images. It uses a low cost adapted algorithm for large size images. The API documentation included in the archive is in Javadoc format. Contrast Enhancer uses JDK 1.1.8 and higher.
ImageJ is a free image processing software written in Java. It was inspired by the Macintosh software NIH-Image developed by the National Institute of Health.
ImageJ functions in two modes:
- as an applet in a web browser,
- as an application on any Java supported platform.
IIt is recommended using virtual machine Java 1.1 or later.
